Priscila Salazar | Spanish tutor
Parents usually tell me…
“My teen watches all the lessons and does every assignment… but still doesn’t get it.”
“We’ve tried tutors, but they all teach general Spanish, not what he’s actually learning in class.”
“I wish I could help, but I don’t speak Spanish — not a word.”
“He’s losing confidence. He says he’ll never be able to learn Spanish.”
Sounds familiar?
Here’s what usually happens in Spanish classes:
One-size-fits-all is not enough
Not every method or explanation works for every type of learner.
Not enough real speaking practice
Video lessons save time, but don’t offer opportunities to actually speak.
Everyone moves at the same pace
Some students feel rushed. Others feel bored.
Mistakes without learning
Students often know they got something wrong, but not why — or how to fix it.
Even in good Spanish programs, students sometimes need a little extra help!
Hi! I am Priscila Salazar
I’m a curriculum designer and Spanish teacher with university training in teaching Spanish to teens.
I help high school students understand how Spanish works — so they can feel confident, stay on track, and enjoy learning it.
I know how high school Spanish works
As a curriculum designer for Spanish 1, 2, and 3 at the high school level, I know exactly how these programs are structured — and which topics tend to be the most challenging for students.
I bring clarity through customized practice
I know where to find clear answers, how to explain them in simple terms, and how to design the right exercises so that each student can practice until everything makes sense — from simple pronunciation questions to those “existential” ones about the difference between ser and estar, or how the subjunctive really works.
I focus on what your teen actually needs
I don’t teach general Spanish lessons. I specialize in helping high school students with specific questions and difficult concepts, which allows me to stay deeply familiar with the curriculum and always ready to explain things in different ways.
I help teens enjoy Spanish again
More than anything, I care about helping my students avoid developing frustration or fear toward Spanish. I want them to see that, with the right explanations and a bit of practice, they can truly understand — and even enjoy — the Spanish language.
How sessions work
-
Before starting sessions with a new student, I have a personal conversation with the parent to understand what challenges their teen has been facing, what their goals are, and what materials they’re currently using.
-
Using their own class materials as a foundation, I create targeted exercises, clear explanations, and practice activities that help them move forward and succeed in their Spanish classes — whether they’re homeschooled or in a traditional school setting.
-
During our sessions, I ask questions to understand the student’s learning style and identify any gaps. I create a safe space where students feel free to ask questions and make mistakes without fear.
What my students say about my sessions
-
“Being able to learn with stories and talk about them made it easier to connect with the grammar and vocabulary. It helped me remember the language and speak more confidently. I highly recommend this type of class — it’s fun, engaging, and it really works!”
– Natalie
-
“The main trait I’d attribute to Ms. Priscilla is authenticity. She’s real, and she’s genuine. She’ll make you better, and you’ll love working with her.”
– Deuce
-
“I found these tutoring sessions very beneficial. I revisited difficult areas with new explanations, practiced pronunciation, and strengthened my Spanish skills — all while having fun! Highly recommended.”
